Everything's Going to Pot

Want to know why we have a drug problem in America? it is not, as some would suggest, because they are illegal and people like to rebel and do those things which they are not allowed to do. Although that may play a small part. No I believe the real problem is that those who are suppose to be role models or more likely are role models for our children regularly partake in drugs. Athletes, politicians, rock musicians, and movie stars all partake and make it a big deal that they see no problem with it. Take for instance the story in USA Today yesterday http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2005-07-31-pot-on-tv_x.htm, and you can see how Hollywood is trying to show that it is okay to use marijuana, because everyone does. You know I am continually amazed at how Hollywood suggests that everyone has a right to their opinion, but if yours if different than theirs they slam you. They spout the different lifestyle and and sex outside of marriage is okay agendas and tell you how you are intolerant if you speak out agains them, yet they are doing exactly what they are fighting against by being intolerant to your views. I mean how can you have it one way and not the other. This just shows that they are just as intolerant as those they speak out against. Any let me get back on the subject and off of my soapbox. The reason we have a drug problem today is because kids are being show via TV and their heroes that drugs are okay and parents are telling them anything else. If we want our children to know that drugs are wrong then we need to show them and tell them about the effects and how they are wrong. I am saddened when I see a young man or woman who ruins their life just so they can have a little "fun" and get "high". Teach your children about the high that comes from helping others and just being alive and active. There is no greater "high" than to know there is a God who loves you and has given His Son so that eternal life with Him can happen. God Bless you.
